Because McDonalds wants you to eat at their restaurants for every meal: it's good for you!
Firstly: great idea for a community.
Secondly: surely you've seen this one. The ad opens with a little girl playing dressup, showing her individuality via outrageous clothing. Mom dismisses it by saying "it isn't what goes on the tummy, it's what goes in the tummy that's important." She takes her kid to McDonalds where the child, who is obviously capable of making good choices, selects "all white meat nuggets," milk, and fruit in her happy meal. Right. Because McDonalds is good for you, and kids always pick the non-fried sides. No wonder child obesity rates are growing (pun intended) at an exponential rate. Teaching kids to eat at McDonalds on a regular basis is probably one of the most irresponsible things a parent can do. Ugh...

Seriously. The only way you choose healthy food at McDonald's is if you're an adult or work there (and then you pretty much have to learn what to choose).

And even then, nothing they have is all that healthy, unless you have a salad without dressing. In fact that's just about the only thing that doesn't have an exorbitant amount of fat and/or sugar. That's the point: they market it as healthy when it's anything but...

Yes, and think about the preservatives on some of that stuff. Even the "Apple Dippers." You'd spend less money and be healthier by just buying a damn apple and cutting it up.

*nods* You hit the nail on the head. God forbid you buy a loaf of bridge and make your kid a damn sandwich at home. Oh no, let's pay for fatty foods prepared by someone else so the kid can have a cheap plastic toy they'll lose interest in after approximately 2.5 seconds! Horray! I should know: my mom took me to McDonalds all the time, I was an obese teenager, and I had a bucket FULL of those damn Happy Meal toys. As much as I enjoyed it as a kid, I didn't know any better, and now that I do I wish my mom had fed me an apple instead. :(

bread* not bridge. Watching too much local news with frozen overpasses for my own good. LOL

Which is why McDonald's was a treat for us when our Grandparents took us.

It was when we were much younger. And we almost exclusively only got McDonald's when we went to Florida.
